Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW)

This Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW) course is part of the mandatory basic safety training for all seafarers with designated safety duties. It deals with the precautions needed to minimise the risk of fires, how fires are caused and how to extinguish them.

There is plenty of practical training, with a focus on using fire fighting equipment and breathing apparatus to extinguish various types and sizes of fires including casualty rescue in smoke filled enclosed spaces. Our multi-storey steel fire unit, fitted with simulated shipboard compartments, is used for live fire training.

The course is also included in the STCW Basic Safety Training Week.

NOTE:
Delegates undergoing fire fighting training will be required to complete and sign a confidential medical declaration to make staff aware of any health problems, disabilities or injuries that may need to be taken into account whilst attending this physically demanding course. It is therefore essential that delegates feel healthy and are physically fit to undertake such training.
