Ballast Water Management Plan

Under the Ballast Water Management Convention, all ships operating internationally are required to implement a ship-specific Ballast Water Management Plan as well as managing their ballast water and sediments to certain standards.

The International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships Ballast Water & Sediments (BWM Convention) came into force from 8th September 2017. Ships will also have to carry a Ballast Water Record Book and International Ballast Water Management Certificate.
