REG Yacht Code Audit Service

Southampton, UK – 5 July 2018 – Azimuth Nautical Solutions Ltd. today announces the launch of its new REG Yacht Code Audit Service, to assist owners, Masters and yacht management companies in meeting any applicable new Code requirements.

The Red Ensign Group (REG) Yacht Code enters into force on 1 January 2019 and has been developed by the UK, its overseas territories and crown dependencies, and international representatives to prescribe standards of safety and pollution prevention which are appropriate to the size and type of yacht.

This new Code consists of two parts: Part A being an update to the existing Large Yacht Code (LY3) and Part B being an update to the Passenger Yacht Code 6th Edition (PYC).

The Scope of Parts A and B of the new Code have not been changed and are as follows:

  • Part A is applicable to yachts which are 24 metres and over in load line length, are in commercial use for sport or pleasure, do not carry cargo and do not carry more than 12 passengers;
  • Part B is applicable to pleasure yachts of any size, in private use or engaged in trade, which carry more than 12 but not more than 36 passengers and which do not carry cargo.

Director of Azimuth Nautical Solutions, Andrew Hair said, “I am delighted to launch this new service to the superyacht industry today.  Our maritime consultants will bring a wealth of experience to bear in verifying compliance with the REG Yacht Code through review of key areas, such as certification, equipment, stability, as well as specific new survey requirements.”
