MARPOL Awareness

Southampton, UK – 30 July 2018 – Azimuth Nautical Solutions has today launched an updated MARPOL Awareness course, which is relevant for those who need to understand the requirements, responsibilities and implications of non-compliance in relation to protection of the marine environment.

This announcement coincides with the agreement by major Port State Control regimes to conduct a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) from 1 September to 30 November 2018 on vessel compliance with MARPOL Annex VI (Air Pollution), as highlighted in the following article: Port State Control to focus on ship emissions

Aimed at company managers, senior officers, Designated Persons Ashore (DPAs), superintendents, auditors, regulators and those who inspect vessels, this 1 or 2 day course (duration to suit specific client needs) can be delivered at company premises, on board or at any other suitable location worldwide.

The course covers the following key topic areas:

  • Review of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL)
  • Particular requirements of Annexes I to VI
  • Awareness of Port State Control issues and some of the ‘red lines’
  • Understanding the consequences of non-compliance and increased regulatory oversight by numerous agencies
  • Familiarisation with IMO Guidelines for completing Oil Record Books
  • Outlook on future developments
