Mike Symons

Following an extensive career in the UK Royal Navy until retirement in 1999, Mike Symons joined one of the world’s largest merchant shipping submarine fibre optic cable installation and maintenance companies. He subsequently held increasing positions of responsibility from Fleet Superintendent, Company Security Officer, Designated Person Ashore to Company Quality Manager.

With over 17 years in the commercial shipping industry, Mike is an active figure with international business stakeholders in the review and development of associated international safety and security best management practices.

Mike ensures that any related training or consultancy services are developed and delivered consistently within the international maritime sector. These services are aligned to international standards, applicable legislation, and best management practices, through accredited organisations, thus guaranteeing competence and compliance.

As an experienced and accredited DPA, CSO, training instructor and recognised Lead Auditor, Mike has worked as a senior lecturer and consultant for Warsash Maritime Academy in Southampton (UK) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) in Lisbon.

He now delivers International Safety Management (ISM) and International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) approved training and consultancy services to our worldwide customers, IMO Member States and SAFEMED beneficiaries.
